Today on Orchestrating Change, our guest is Rick Robinson, a composer and double bassist who spent 22 years with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Before joining the DSO, he performed with both the Canton and Akron symphonies and held principal positions with several other orchestras, including the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under John Williams. A graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the New England Conservatory, Rick is also the founder of Cut Time Productions, a publishing company that creates chamber arrangements of orchestral masterworks to make classical music more accessible. His original composition Essay After Sibelius will be performed by the Canton Symphony next season.
