The 2022 Orchestrating Change Leadership Program will be a week long camp where middle schoolers explore the world of music. Together, they will investigate the field, identify needed changes, and orchestrate solutions for a more accessible and inclusive musical future! Students will meet professionals working in the field of orchestral music from across the country, get hands on with the music made here in Canton, and work to answer the question: How can music change our community?.
Register by emailing Program Manager, Rachel Hagemeier, at email@example.com.
The Orchestrating Change Leadership Program was established to further the mission of the Orchestrating Change podcast by creating programming to realize change within the Canton Symphony and the field of classical music. In our 2021 program, we saw 10 undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds gather online to discuss issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of orchestral music, and receive leadership training as future professionals in the field. The 2021 cohort created an after-school music program that will be going into effect in southeast Canton beginning in 2022. Real change is being realized and we look forward to our 2022 cohort bringing the same level of excitement and forward momentum.
